Finding the ideal hair colour is like to discovering a rough diamond, a needle in a haystack, or a wild boar that can… you get the idea. It’s a difficult task! That’s why, after you’ve discovered it, you’ll want to know how to preserve your new hue from fading too quickly. Use some (or all) of these simple ways to keep your color refreshed and brilliant
USE A LONG-LASTING HAIR COLOR.
The phrase ‘lasting’ well sums it all when it comes to color that is supposed to last. It entirely changes the color of your hair by opening the hair shaft and embedding color deep within it. For most people, the color fades and grows out after seven to eight weeks, but it never completely disappears. Color is deposited from around hair shaft with demi-permanent hair color. It alters the color of the hair and is a great way to experiment with small color changes without committing (it lasts for around 24 shampoos).
REMAIN ON TIME OR STAY ON SCHEDULE
Avoiding hot roots can be as simple as determining how often you want to colour and staying on top of it. When regrowth is roughly an inch long, refresh your roots to help ensure an even colour and avoid “banding,” which is when new root colour overlaps (or extends) over existing colour. This may cause your hair to look darker than it would if the colour had been applied to new healthy hair, producing in a lighter “band” at your origins.
USE A DEEP CONDITIONER
Hair that is healthy is happy hair. And happy hair hugs your colour, holding it in place better than dry, damaged hair. “Imagine the hair shaft as a pinecone, with layers of protection encircling it. Those layers are smoothed down and flat in healthy hair, making it feel silky and lustrous. The layers pull away from the shaft when hair is dry or damaged, creating a rough texture. Use a thorough conditioner to add moisture and shine. Simply apply to damp, clean hair, focusing on the ends, and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse. Is your hair looking a little parched?
USE LESS SHAMPOO
You never imagined you’d hear someone say something like that, did you? But, yes, we’re going there shampooing daily can strip hair of its natural oils and dislodge colour molecules, causing your shade to fade.
SELECT GENTILES’ PRODUCTS
Your hair colour, like your skin, requires some tender loving care. Sulfates, which are heavy-duty washing chemicals that make hair very clean but also tend to destroy colour molecules and moisture along with grime, are found in many shampoos. As a result, look for sulfate-free treatments designed exclusively for color-treated hair.
EXTEND YOUR COLOR
Hair colour can fade faster if it is exposed to water, the sun, or is styled frequently with hot tools. Maintain control with a pigmented treatment that refreshes your tone between applications. Use a neutralizer to offset undesired warmth in colours that are becoming brassy. Use a colour enhancing treatment that adds brightness to neutral or warm tones, such as reds, to bring them to life, especially on the ends where colour fades the most.
COVER YOUR HAIR
Isn’t it true that you wouldn’t leave the house without putting sunblock to your face? Your hair isn’t any different. Use a Leave-In Conditioner daily to protect colour from UV radiation and keep it from fading.
LOWER THE TEMPERATURE
Take lukewarm showers and avoid using heat equipment like blow dryers, flat irons, and curling irons since high temperatures open the hair cuticle, allowing color to escape. Hair colour cannot deposit evenly on cooked, broken strands, and they may dry out and damage hair. Before using any tools, spritz towel-dried hair with a thermal hair protectant.
